Special Needs Online Homeschool seeks to meet an ongoing need in students with special learning needs through our Special Needs Curriculum.

Saving Grace Special Needs Online Homeschool  is an Online Special Needs Curriculum that is NOT CAPS aligned.

So what does it mean to NOT be CAPS Aglined?

  • Students can student at their own pace
  • The curriculum focuses on important life skills around the areas of Mathematics, English, Life Skills and Afrikaans if you are Afrikaans speaking.
  • Students do not have to do a grade over 1 year, they can take longer or shorter based on their own individual pace
  • Students do not have to do all CAPS Subjects-Only Mathematics, English, Life Skills and Afrikaans if you are Afrikaans speaking.

Our special needs curriculum is available in English or Afrikaans and is from Grade R to Grade 9. After Grade 9 our students go the vocational route.

Our lessons are delivered through video lessons, interactive activities and integrated printable worksheets for reinforcement.

Here are other ways our special needs curriculum specifically addresses special learning needs:

  • Activities are clearly organized and formatted consistently within each level.
  • Concepts are repeated, reviewed, and summarized for clarity.
  • Students can work at their own pace in the learning activities.
  • Activities teach concepts through songs, graphics, videos.
  • Visual enhancements include font, font size, spacing and color for contrast.
  • Graphics and pictures are added to practice sheets
  • Activities have tasks that are broken up into manageable units which help improve student self-esteem.
  • Multimedia in activities is used to trigger the sympathetic imagination and improve emotional intelligence.

Special Needs Curriculum provides students with a tailor made special needs curriculum with the aim of equipping children with as much basic life skills as possible in order to be functional adults.

The Four main areas of focus is  Numeracy(Maths), Literacy(English) and Life Skills with the first focus being learning to read and then communication and language and writing, Personal, social and emotional development ( Life Skills) and Fine Motor Skills.

Our Special Needs Homeschool Curriculum is from Grade R TO 9 with each Grade consisting of 4 terms.

In order to assess which Grade is best suited for your child, our academics team will use the report card and all the information you provide to assess the best level for the student however the most accurate measurement is by the student doing an assessment for Maths and English.

Subjects Afrikaans Students: Wiskunde, Afrikaans, English (Optional), Lewensvaardighede
